By bringing hands-on demonstrations, interactive learning, and expert-led sessions, IIREES aims to cultivate scientific awareness where opportunities have traditionally been limited. We want students regardless of geography, background, or economic status—to understand the Earth beneath their feet and the universe above their heads.

This initiative is not just about education; it is about empowerment, sustainability, and preparing India for the geoscientific challenges of the coming decades.

Young Explorer Programme

The Young Explorer Programme is a flagship educational outreach initiative of the Institute of Innovation Research and Education for Earth and Space (IIREES), designed to introduce secondary school students to the fascinating worlds of Earth and Space Sciences. Aimed primarily at students of Classes IX to XII, the programme seeks to inspire curiosity, scientific thinking, and environmental awareness beyond classroom learning. Through interactive presentations, real-world examples, hands-on demonstrations, and exposure to rocks, minerals, fossils, and planetary science concepts, students gain a deeper understanding of Earth and planetary systems and their relevance to society. The programme also highlights the role of geosciences in addressing global challenges such as climate change, natural hazards, and sustainable resource management, while providing guidance on academic pathways and career opportunities in geoscience and space science disciplines.

Geo-Genious Explorer Programme

Geo-Genious Explorer Programme is a flagship initiative of IIREES designed for BSc and MSc students of Geography, Environmental Sciences, Petroleum Engineering, Geology, and Geophysics. The programme offers experiential learning through interactive sessions, hands-on demonstrations, and real-world case studies in Earth and Space Sciences. Students gain practical insights into Earth system processes, natural resources, climate change, natural hazards, and sustainability, along with guidance on academic pathways and career opportunities in geoscience and allied fields.
